Do you tend to ignore your triggers or reflect on them?

In yesterday’s article, we explored how triggers aren’t random—they’re reminders connected to past experiences and deeper emotions. When people start noticing those reminders, something interesting happens: they become more aware of what they feel and why they feel it.

However, many people misunderstand what growth actually looks like. There’s a common belief that emotional maturity means nothing bothers you anymore. That you become so calm and composed that criticism, conflict, or negativity simply bounce off. But real growth rarely looks like emotional indifference.

Growth doesn’t mean pretending nothing bothers you. In fact, the opposite is often true. Growth means becoming more honest about what affects you while also learning not to let those emotions control your behavior. It’s the difference between suppressing feelings and understanding them.

When someone acknowledges a trigger instead of denying it, they create the opportunity for change. Pretending emotions don’t exist only buries them deeper. Recognizing them, naming them, and reflecting on them brings those emotions into the light where they can actually be understood.

True growth is emotional awareness combined with intentional choice. It allows people to feel deeply without being ruled by those feelings.

Tomorrow we’ll explore what growth truly looks like—noticing what bothers you and choosing not to let it drive you.

Be positive, be kind. Have a wonderful day!
