If You Ever Feel Forced to Pick a Side… Read This First
f you ever feel like the world is pushing you to pick a side—to harden, to judge, to draw lines—just remember this:
Is being understood more important to you than understanding others?
I’m going to tell you something the way I’d say it if we were just sitting together, no pressure, no pretending. If you ever feel like the world is pushing you to pick a side—to harden, to judge, to draw lines—just remember this: you get to choose how you show up in that moment. And if you’re unsure, lean toward justice, compassion, peace, inclusion, wild grace, and radical love. I know that might sound idealistic, but I’ve seen what happens when someone chooses love over ego—it changes everything, starting from the inside out.
I won’t lie to you, though… it’s not always easy. There are going to be moments where you’ll want to be right. Where it feels justified to shut someone out or to react instead of pause. I’ve been there more times than I can count. But those are the exact moments that shape you. So when that feeling hits, just slow it down for a second and ask yourself, “What would love do here?” Not the easy kind of love—but the kind that takes strength. The kind that asks you to listen a little longer, soften a little more, and let go of the need to win.
And if you’re ever feeling stuck, here are a few questions I think are worth sitting with—no pressure to have perfect answers, just be real with yourself: Am I trying to understand, or just be heard? Where might I be closing my heart without realizing it? What would compassion look like in this moment, even if it’s uncomfortable? And the big one… Who might need grace from me right now that I don’t feel like giving it to? Those questions have a way of grounding you, bringing you back to who you really want to be.
At the end of the day, I just want you to know this—you don’t have to get it perfect. None of us do. But if you keep coming back to love, if you keep choosing compassion even when it’s hard, you’re already doing something powerful. You’re making the world a little softer, a little more human. And that matters more than being right ever will.
Be beautiful, be positive, and have a wonderful day!
